Overview

KKShield is a mobile security and parental control app available on Android and iOS. It helps you monitor and protect your family's online safety. We are committed to protecting your privacy.

Data Collection

KKShield does NOT collect or transmit any personal data to external servers. All security analysis and content filtering is performed locally on your device. The only data sent externally is anonymous usage analytics and crash reports via Firebase (see Third-Party Services below).

What the app accesses (locally only):

• Network traffic (VPN): KKShield creates a local VPN tunnel (Android: VpnService API, iOS: Network Extension) to monitor DNS queries and detect threats. All traffic analysis happens on-device. No network data leaves your device through our app.
• WiFi information: Used to scan nearby networks for security vulnerabilities. Results are stored only on your device.
• Installed apps and permissions (Android): Used to analyze app permissions and identify potential security risks. This data never leaves your device.
• Location (WiFi scanning): Required by the operating system to perform WiFi network scans. Location data is not stored or transmitted.

Data Storage

All data generated by KKShield (security scores, scan results, blocked domains, content filter settings, PIN data) is kept locally on your device using secure storage mechanisms (Room database on both Android and iOS). No cloud sync or backup to external servers is performed.

Data Sharing

We do not share, sell, or transfer any user data to third parties.

Third-Party Services

KKShield uses the following third-party services:

• Firebase Analytics (Google): Collects anonymous app usage data (screen views, feature usage, device type, OS version) to help us improve the app. No personally identifiable information is collected. You can opt out via your device's advertising settings.
• Firebase Crashlytics (Google): Collects crash reports and diagnostic data to help us fix bugs. Crash reports may include device model, OS version, and stack traces. No personal data is included.

KKShield does not integrate any advertising or tracking services. We do not use the collected analytics data for advertising purposes.

VPN Service Disclosure

KKShield uses the operating system's VPN/Network Extension APIs to create a local on-device VPN tunnel. This is used exclusively for:

• Intercepting and analyzing DNS queries to detect malicious domains
• Blocking connections to known dangerous domains
• Content filtering for parental controls

Important: This is NOT a traditional VPN service. Your internet traffic is NOT routed through any external server. The VPN runs entirely on your device for local security monitoring and content filtering purposes only.

Parental Controls

KKShield includes parental control features (content filtering, PIN lock). These features operate entirely on-device. No browsing history or activity data is transmitted externally.

Children's Privacy

KKShield is designed to help parents protect their children online. The app itself does not knowingly collect any personal information from children. All parental control data remains on the device.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above.
